by Paton on March 9, 2011 at 4:40 pm

I think that I maybe getting a tenuous grasp on wordpress. Fun stuff.

More fun comes in the form of playing with my Pentel brush pen.  Hope everyone is having a great day.

FrankenFUN

by Paton on March 7, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Good Monday morning good people of the interweb.  Here is a watercolour I painted for my boy’s room.  I feel like this most of the time.  A kid trapped in an adult body.

The redirect to from cardboardtreehouse.com to cardboardtreehouse.blogspot.com will be down as we’re getting my new site up and running.  If you’ve visited and you’ve noticed some odd changes in the look and layout of this site it is due to my work with WordPress.  So please be patient as I work on updating and refining this site.  I have lots of goodies in store so stay tuned.  More information coming soon. Thanks for stopping by.

A little experiment in water colour (or color for our American friends) that I painted for my wife. Could make a nice greeting card.

Joel’s Paper Craft Dragon

by Paton on February 21, 2011 at 1:40 am
Sometime ago a good artist and friend of mine, Joel Duggan drew this awesome dragon. I thought it was pretty cool so I took a stab at making it into a paper craft. This was my first attempt at taking a flat image and sculpting it with paper. I was and still am happy with how he turned out.

In other news, Joel produces a weekly webcomic about dating called Starcrossed and he is co-host of a very entertaining podcast called the Digital Dating Podcast. Both things are really worth taking the time to check out. Your funny bone may just thank you.

It looks like my posts are becoming more regular so I’m going to keep this up and have a new post up every Monday.
Until then see you around.

It is a CooCoo Clock that I made for my son’s room. I’m pretty happy with the results. What do you think?

be mime pop-up card and free template

by Paton on February 13, 2011 at 4:01 pm
So just incase you haven’t gotten to the card store yet and you have access to a computer and you have some card stock handy (I mean who doesn’t have tons of card stock in their house?) here is a few snaps of my “be mime” pop-up card.

I’ve also included a template of the card that you can print out and do. NOTE: This is a free template for personal use only. It may not be reprinted for any commercial use or for profit.

I think the directions are clear and it should be pretty straight forward to do. If you have any questions just drop me a line. My contact info is on my profile page.
Happy V day to one and all. More goodness coming soon.

Pop-up Birthday for my boy

by Paton on February 7, 2011 at 5:10 pm

Here is the pop-up birthday card I made for my son’s 1st birthday party. We had a bunch of family and friends here yesterday (in the house and on skype) for a party for him and he had a really good time. He’s one so I guess anytime is a good time when your schedule consists of eating, playing and sleeping.

In the card he is wearing an old set of pajama’s that he has long outgrown but they were a favorite of his mothers. The chair is based off of his high chair but I didn’t realize until I had the card completed that the oval on the back of the chair looks like a red halo. He is a cross of a monster and an angel anyway so that kind of works.
More stuff coming in the future but thanks for stopping by.
